The energy collected from renewable resources that occur naturally, replenished is considered renewable energy. Renewable energy obtained from different resources are the following:

  • Solar energy from the sun.
  • Geothermal from the heat inside the earth.
  • Wind energy.
  • Biomass from plants.
  • Hydropower from flowing water.

These are the five major types of renewable energy. Renewable energy-providing methods are very beneficial and have no side effects. It does not produce greenhouse gas as in fossil fuels and reduces air pollution, provides diversifying energy supply and reduces dependence on imported fuels, and creates economic development and jobs in manufacturing, installation, and more.

Globally, hydroelectric power capacity exceeding 1295GW, accounting for more than 18% of the world’s total installed power generation capacity. China has the largest hydroelectric generation capacity in the world. China also owns the world’s largest hydropower plant.

Second, Wind energy is the most widely used renewable energy source. Globally installed wind power capacity exceeded 563GW in 2018, including approximately 24% of the world’s total renewable energy generation capacity of more than 184GW. Other major wind power-producing countries are Germany, Spain, India, China, Portugal, The UK, Canada, France, Brazil, and the US produce more than 85% of the world’s total wind energy.

Solar power, the third biggest renewable power source in the world countries including china, the US, Japan, Germany and Italy, and India, possess the largest solar PV capacity in the world. The use of concentrating solar power is also on the ‘rise’. Globally CSP installed capacity reached SSGW by the end of 2018. Abu Dhabi solar project in the United Arab Emirates latest single-site power plant in the world.

The fourth-biggest renewable power source is Bio-power. It is usually, generated from the biological process like fermentation and anaerobic digestion using the suitable microbial system and raw substrate global biopower generation increased from 317TWH in 2010 to more than 495TWH in 2018. Leading Bio-power generators in the world are the US, Brazil, China, India, and the UK.

Geothermal power is obtained from the heat present in the earth. Geothermal electricity generation increased 85TWH in 2018. One-third of the geothermal energy is converted into electricity and, the remaining is used as direct heat. The US, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, and Italy are the major thermal power producers in the world.

Government should take a step to increase the production of renewable energy sources like the instruction of dams.

Non-renewable resources are the major source of energy nowadays depleting day by day and producing harmful gases that pollute our environment. Renewable energy sources and also provide unlimited energy supply. These are a little costly energy sources but give more benefits. Renewable energy sources are very beneficial in making a pollution-free environment and also decrease the risk of disease caused due to smoke produced from fuels.
