Introduction:
5G is 5th Generation wireless technology based on OFDM (Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing).5G uses new radio technology with radiofrequency in a band called SUB-6 from 600MHz to 6GHz.This bandwidth is used in 4G LTE too. 5G also uses high bandwidth ranges from 24Ghz to 86GHz. 5G allowed signals to be squeezed and overlapped that carry a large amount of data.5G network is higher in performance as compared to 4G.
5G is not just high-speed technology that provides much higher video streaming speed than 4G LTE but also provides access to new services such as mission-critical communication and connecting the massive IoT. 5G technology uses base stations and can easily handle hundreds of Megabits per second. 5G technology required 5G-enabled devices. These devices are much expensive in markets. 5G does not require any wired connection device as home broadband.
Working Mechanism:
5G is based on OFDM, works on the same principle of mobile networking as 4G LTE.5G New Radio waves enhance the OFDM. These New Radio waves provide a much higher degree of flexibility and response time.
Key Features:
Higher Bandwidth:
5G internet can handle 100’s of Megabits/s. The bandwidth speed of 5G is much higher than the other generations’ bandwidth technologies.
Low Latency:
5G response time is 1 millisecond, compared to 4G whose response time is 100 milliseconds.
Dense Connection:
5G connection is much denser than 4G LTE. It can connect several devices at a time.
5G comparison with other Generations.
1G:
1G (1st Generation) based on analog cellular technology introduced in the 1980s, and was replaced by 2G technology based on CDMA and GSM.1G include devices with large antennas.
2G:
2G (2nd Generation) was introduced in the early 1990s, based on CDMA, GSM technologies with Internet GPRS, EDGE technology and is still in use in some countries because of its vast number of phone users. The maximum transfer speed of 2G is 40kbit/s.
3G:
3G (3rd Generation) was introduced in the early 2000s, and it is cellular technology. The internet speed of 3G was 30 times faster than the 2G average speed of 100 kilobits/s. In this technology, we see the concept of mobile broadband and video streaming concept. The video and audio streaming speed in 3G is fast. The 3G connection is stable and faster than the 2G connection. Its average speed is 3(three) megabits/s.
4G LTE:
4G LTE can handle 200 Megabits per second of data. 4G LTE bandwidth is much higher than 3G but lower than 5G. The response time of 4G is 100 milliseconds compared to 5G whose response time is 1 millisecond.4G devices do not require 4G enabled devices, it only requires a SIM card and are very cheap compared to 5G.
Countries:
United States, China, and South Korea are the prime countries that guide the deployment of the 5G across the world.
US implemented 5G in a few of its areas, and it is expected that 2-4 years are required for the complete implementation of 5G.
In China, Huawei introduced 5th generation mobile phones and is winning the race. In South Korea, 5G was deployed in different areas, but the security concerns are still under consideration.
In Pakistan, ZONG recently did a test on 5G technology and obtained good results. The government in Pakistan did not grant permission for the deployment of 5G because of some security threats that are also a broad topic.
Some companies in India also launched 5G mobiles and, now 5G is deployed in 60+ countries.
Rumors about 5G:
In December 2019, we heard the rumors about 5G that the COVID-19 came due to 5G. Not Until yet, no evidence found that proves this theory. According to some scientists, 5G is considered non-ionizing radiation, and it is less harmless than other generations. These are low-powered that do not cause the weakening of the immune system, so there is no need to be afraid of them.
